One of our neighbours died last week - aged 95 - and two of her four children and many grandchildren are living abroad unable to travel in these pandemic times. Technology has certainly been a boon for allowing us to easily keep in touch in real time, unlike the days of postal letter delays, expensive long distance phone calls. There's no sense of closure or ending. I've had that happen several times, once with a very close friend who lived in Florida and who was very private about her struggles with illness.
