HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011

New Year 2011 brings wishes your life will be

. . . joyful with family and friends

. . . happy, healthy and prosperous

. . . filled with smiles, laughter and love

Remembering Billy Taylor, appreciated as a pianist, educator, composer and Jazz advocate who died December 29, 2010.

For more about him please visit: http://www.billytaylorjazz.net/ Thanks to jazzvideoguy for sharing this video of Billy Taylor in a solo piano performance:

New Years Eve we often hear various renditions of this standard tune many will remember as a “Sing along…” with Mitch Miller, who also passed away this year. Here’s Mitch and his “gang” with this old and probably rare recording of “Auld Lang Syne” preceded by “Annie Laurie.”

  4. My last act before conking out last night was watching and listening to this Billy Taylor YouTube and marveling at how smooth he was. I noticed, too, that he hummed very softly as he played. Martha Argerich, the Argentinian concert pianist, hums like that, too. The music captures their whole being, not just their hands.

Sing along with Mitch? Sure did! Happy New Year to you....and thanks for this wonderful post!

  6. Nice . . . some wonderful old music. And thx. for your post on my blog. As a former middle manager myself, I take the position that middle mgmt. has always been underappreciated!

But seriously, I think the more global the job market gets, the more competitive it gets. I don't see any way around that. But I also don't think it's necessarily bad. As I say, life shouldn't be easy. It should be interesting!
