Legislation Assaults Personal Liberties

"Thought Crime Bill Passes House"

is the title of Ronni Bennett's Tuesday, 06 November 2007 post at

"Time Goes By."

She reports this bill is:

"Designated H.R.1955 and titled the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism and Prevention Act of 2007, it is an amendment to the Homeland Security Act of 2002"

I strongly urge anyone who has not read the alarm she sounds to do so by connecting to her blog on the link highlighted above.

Please contact your congresspersons to prevent the bill's becoming law if you care about our personal freedoms, preserving our democracy and constitution.

Coincidentally, without having read her post I had just written in my previous post here about prior unsatisfactory communication experiences with my congressperson. I will make my views known in the hopes this time they will receive serious consideration.

  1. I just keep feeling and saying out loud.."What has happened to this country?" It is frightening beyond words the chipping away at the constitution that has consistanly gone on under this dangerously out of control President....This must be what a lot of people in Germany felt like back in the early thirties....It is shameful that just tonight a Senator in the debate about Mukassey said of George Bush that he believes himself to be the King! All powerful and Imperialistic, with Imperialistic powers....The shameful part is that this is true....Not that the senator said it.
I went to the link Joarad...AND THAT BILL IS SCARY AS HELL!!!! Germany under Hitler, all over again.
I don't think I have ever been as depressed about the future of America as I am right now and I know I am not alone in this feeling...
I have NO faith in our representitives weather they be in the House or The Senate..(Diane Feinstein....HELP US OH LORD--=Voting for Mukassey)...It's like many of the Democrats are Wolves in Sheeps Clothing...We are in such deep deep trouble with our Democracy....
I better stop or I won't be able to sleep....!

On another note: Thank you for sharing that wonderful story about Maya Angelou....What so very many people of color lived through in this so called Democracy is incredibly shameful....That she survived and thrived...Magnificent! Ruby Dee too, and Samella Lewis, as well....In fact everyone who lived through these horrendous things and not only survived but endured and prevailed! I say Bravo to them all. And each of them is a true inspiration, in every way.
