  1. It's hard to think on all the lives that have been lost to wars and even harder to wonder if any were really needed?! That's heresy to even say in many quarters.

    1. So true -- so many who went to war in our name.

  2. Oh yes... We are certainly remembering the brave men and women who lost their lives protecting our country. We're remembering also those who returned shattered and changed having given everything they had for us.

    2. Unfortunately whether we like it or not, pestilence, famine and war will always be an aspect of life. Thank God some people remain willing to bear every burden and pay any price.

Currently reading Alter Egos by Mark Ländler, about Hillary and Obama. Excellent summary of their relationship.

    3. We honor them all but lament so many have had to pay the price.

  3. I went to comment moderation ages ago. A blog is like property. You don't let people come onto your property and make a mess out of it.

    1. I had to use comment moderation once before for a long period of time. Just thought I'd try without it for a while, but ultimately a troll showed up.

  4. A young friend of mine was honored by being asked to play taps at a local concert Sunday. She was thrilled and did a beautiful job.

    1. Taps is such an emotionally stirring experience to hear, I can only imagine what actually playing this tribute must feel like.

    1. I think of what contributions to our lives we have been deprived of, not to mention all the heartache caused by their death.
