Spring has sprung with alternating rainy and sunny days here
in the foothills of Southern California.
Snow flakes still occasionally descend from the sky, lightly covering some mountain areas, including trees with nesting
birds interesting me.
I checked in via a live camera on a Bald Eagle couple in the
Big Bear Mountain area northeast of here to see one of the two birds asleep on
the nest, head carefully tucked into wing feathers as snowflakes sifted down
around.
Locals have named the pair Jackie and Shadow. Jackie is believed to be the same eagle who
laid one egg last year, which successfully hatched but the eaglet later
died. Jackie’s mate, Shadow, this year,
is thought to be a different male when they constructed their nest.
1) Family planning for the couple proceeded on February 8th
as they fertilized any eggs produced in this Desert Sun photo link from the Big
Bear Mtn live cam:
2) The couple admires their first egg laid March 6th
in this San Bernardino Sun photo live
link:
The report is:
“Now, for the next 35 or
so days, we will see the parents share incubation duties,” service biologist
Robin Eliason said. “This regulates the temperature of the egg so the embryo
can develop. If all goes well, we should see a hatchling in around April 10.”
3) Jackie reveals a second
egg she has just laid on March 9th in this photo live link:

Mama Jackie and Papa Shadow bald eagles are carefully caring for their future offspring as they alternate periodically turning, steadily warming and consistently protecting their precious two eggs.
Their little eaglets are expected to hatch with the first due about
April 10th.
You can continue to take a peek at them in real time now on
the live camera link below.

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s long-awaited report to
investigate if Russia interfered in the U.S. 2016 national election has been completed and
presented to the Attorney General William P. Barr.
The special counsel’s office is not recommending any further
indictments.
AG Barr and select staff will review, then determine when
and how much of the special counsel Mueller’s report contents will be released
to the public but have promised “transparency.”
I believe I have a right to the full report containing all
the information to the maxim extent according to the law -- my funds paid for
that report, so I’m entitled, as are all U.S. citizens.
I look forward to an imminent timely release of this report
in full, and not just some encapsulated summary or an abbreviated version.

I would have thought the public are entitled to the full version of Mueller's report and not just a sanitized precis omitting anything too embarrassing. We in the UK have been battling to see the full version of various documents relating to Brexit, which the government either wanted to suppress completely or thoroughly bowdlerise.
ReplyDeleteWe will see what we receive since Barr and team reportedly devoted all day yesterday (Sat.) to reviewing Mueller's report. Surely would hope we can avoid battles, but even if we get the full report I can imagine there will be documents referred to within that should be seen some will fight about making public. The more that's hidden, the more distrust that develops with some people while others may blindly just seem not to care, based on how so many other matters have arisen with this Administration. I empathize with your challenge viewing Brexit documents.
DeleteThis blog policy does not allow accepting free commercial advertising or promotion under the guise of being a comment.
ReplyDeleteNote: This policy statement reminder was prompted because a blatant advertisement disguised as a comment was submitted here which I did not publish.
DeleteI will be interested in what they reveal but they said that they don't reveal information that might be humiliating on someone there is no evidence to indict. The only way the left will be satisfied is to see it all revealed regardless of the law and not even then if it doesn't show trump in a negative way. It's all about partisanship.
ReplyDeleteWe are such a voyeuristic society as I just read they may release videos of Kraft in that massage parlor getting a + treatment. To me that would humiliate the women and him and why release it? Who would want to see such a tape? Certainly not me. Ugh.
I think there are some individuals in all political persuasions who could want to see “...all released regardless of the law...” — no monopolies there.
DeleteI look forward to as much of the full Mueller Report being released to the public as is legally acceptable. Seems to have been an abundance of less than truthful behaviors surrounding opaque activities perpetrated by numerous individuals.
Love the information on and link to the eagle cam. We learn so much from cams like this. The instinct to be good parents is in most living things.
ReplyDeleteI suspect the Republicans will keep trying to protect the president and the Democrats will keep trying to dig at every dirty detail of his pitiful life. Over the weekend at Mara-logo there were chants to lock up Hillard again. They have no respect for the rule of law and never will.
Watching wildlife can be entertaining. When I happened on to this local Bald Eagle story I became curious to see if they would successfully hatch and raise a family this year, so will peek in on them occasionally.
DeleteYes, the political party’wars will continue so maneuvering in and around to extract pertinent information will be a challenge.
Amazing what we are able to watch these days. Reality TV in the animal kingdom. Much better than the human kind.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see what the next day or two provides regarding the extent of the Muller Report we get to see.
I’ve not watched many of these creature live cams before but the Bald Eagles are a new experience for me. I do recall the pleasure of sitting quietly in the woods so creatures become accustomed to my presence often revealed an interesting view of their life.
DeleteIt is so magical to spy on these birds and not disturb their lives!
ReplyDeleteYes, I recall watching hummingbirds nest just outside my patio window/door from inside my family room. Fascinating!
DeleteSigh... I confess I'm disappointed that they couldn't find enough proof of collusion. I am so wanting this president to be gone from office.
ReplyDeleteI expect finding proof that will pass the legal threshold of guilt is purposely difficult but not establishing that doesn't always mean not guilty.
DeleteI'm grateful for the wide variety of unobtrusive webcams out there that allow us to see nature up close. Also positive are the changes that zoos have made, making habitats rather than caged enclosures.
ReplyDeleteRight now, as far as Politics, I'm on overload. It's become exhausting.
I, too, am glad to see zoos getting away from cages for their animals.
DeleteThis posted as replay to Kay - wrong place - thought I'd try again....
ReplyDeleteWell, probably to the dismay of many there seems to be little in the Mueller report that puts the President between a rock and a hard place. I may be personally disappointed at that fact but I do have the confidence that Mueller did indeed run an excellent and thorough investigation.
I used to spend a lot of time watching the nature cams but not so much anymore. Bears, hummingbirds, deer and of course, the magnificent eagles.
And just to let you know, I am back on-line but am now maintaining a "journal" rather than a blog. Journals are typically not very popular because of the "no comments" aspect of them but that has always been my favorite means of expressing myself on-line. Besides, now that I am in an assisted living facility I find myself needing something to help pass the time...
Glad to hear from you with your perspective. Pleased you’re settled in Asst. Living. Whatever gives you pleasure with any writing you choose to do is really ideal, I think. If you ever decide to blog again and accept comments some of us will likely still be around to visit your site. Meanwhile, you’re always welcome to come by here.
DeleteYes, yes, and I agree.
ReplyDeleteThe whole sorry saga of investigation is over and he gloats.
ReplyDeleteWhat more do we need to know? Well, all of it. But most will be redacted and he will be re-elected as a martyr.
I am so sick of politics but I admire those who stick it out and keep wielding the pen and the sword.

Will be interesting to see how this all evolves — what specifics we’re able to learn and itheir significance. Public opinion is paramount. I think there are too many secrets withheld from us.
DeleteI am really enjoying watching the eagle. Every once in a while she says something. I will really enjoy reading the whole report too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links. Amazing to watch. I totally agree about the report but I'm not thinking we will ever see the full information. Too many Trump minions involved now.
