Declaration of Independence in 1776 . . .
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Our nation's constitution establishing for us a democratic republic requires our active engagement in determining who serves in our government to preserve our cherished freedoms.
We citizens in our young nation's grand experiment in governing must continue exercising our responsibility to ensure all of us are treated equally, that we retain our rights and liberty as we pursue happiness.
The nature of life itself as reflected in our 250 years history reveals progress is not always a straight line moving forward. Individuals and nations progress toward their noble goals through forward actions, sometimes interrupted by reversals.
Our dedication is needed through all situations to preserve the kind of free nation in which we want to live, to provide for future generations, be a positive force among the world's nations and peoples.
